What are the key components of a Lawn Mower? Engine – The lawn mower engine creates the rotational motion which spins the blade or blades. Motor – In the case of electric or cordless lawn mowers, the motor creates the rotational motion which spins the blade or blades. Frame – The lawn mower frame supports the engine, wheels and handle of the mower. Fuel System - Fuel is stored in the fuel tank and secured with a fuel tank cap. The fuel is brought to the carburetor through the fuel lines and fuel filter by creating a pressure differential using the fuel primer bulb. As the engine Air System – Air is brought to the combustion chamber using the air intake system. Air is delivered to the carburetor by passing through the air filter. Spark System – The spark plug is a key component in the spark system responsible for creating the combustion in the engine cylinder. Blades – The blade or blades of a lawn mower are connected to the output shaft of the engine and rotate in order to cut the grass below the deck of the mower.
